Beach Erosion Uncovers Wooden Ship from the 1800s in Florida

Hurricanes Ian and Nicole surely made their mark on Florida; the caused beach erosion uncovered a wooden ship from the 1800s in Daytona Beach.

History was hidden right beneath our feet, as it is presumed that the ship has been buried for up to two centuries. The archaeological team is working to carefully uncover the ship just enough to "measure it, draw it and possibly take some wood samples to test for its origins". Their plan is to let it stay protected in the wet sand, as taking it out would cost millions and cannot guarantee its preservation.
