Jax Beach police officer shot, suspect charged with attempted murder

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. - Cpl. William Eirman was shot in the leg and pelvic area after a shootout occurred between officers and 27-year-old, Jovan Sisljagic, near the Waffle House at approximately 10pm on Wednesday. 

Sisljagic was also shot, but was immediately booked into the Duval County Jail after being released from Memorial Hospital. He has been charged with two counts of attempted murder. 

Cpl. Eirman is currently in Intensive Care at Memorial Hospital, according to Police Chief Patrick Dooley. 

The Jacksonville Beach Police Department claim that Sisljagic fired his gun at a marked K9 unit driving by. The officer made a U-turn and when he confronted the suspect, requested for him to drop his weapon, the suspect shot at him again.
