It's 2021 and Morgan Wallen still needs to do better.
A neighbor's camera recorded Morgan getting home late Sunday night after partying with friends in Nashville. The recording caught him using the N-word to casually say bye to his buddies.
The backlash was instant. Country music artists denounced Morgan choosing to be so dumb and disrespectful. Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris were quick to point out the favoritism and sexism in the industry.
The most surprising response came from country music media. iHeartRadio, SiriusXM, Pandora and CMT all pulled Morgan's music and content after the video surfaced. Even his label is suspending him!
He issued an apology earlier saying, "I'm embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better."
Mickey Guyton (one of the few black country music stars) isn't holding back on her criticism but also won't feed into cancel culture.
I'm all for Morgan Wallen rehabbing his life but he better not invite himself to Red Table Talk. Or maybe do. Gammy read Olivia Jade for using black women to learn a lesson about privilege.
Anyway, stan Mickey Guyton.
