We assumed the live action Aladdin remake was coming with a new soundtrack. That meant a fresh duet for "A Whole New World" and wow I never pictured Zayn and Zhavia getting the gig.
Disney released this first song from the soundtrack today. The Indian music vibes at the beginning are a nice little nod to the culture. It was weird at first listen to hear Zhavia's deeper voice on one of the dreamiest Disney songs but it mixed SO WELL with Zayn's breathy R&B style.
Zayn and Zhavia are never together in the video which is a bummer. I would've loved to see them play off each other for the classic song. The colors are richer and darker than you would expect for Disney. Guess they wanted a whole new look, too.
Let's throw it back to 1992 with Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle's original duet to see how they really changed up the sound.
