Kanye West has been a free speech bender for a week now. It all started with him coming back to Twitter just unloading random thoughts, his love for President Trump and a lot more random thoughts.
There are theories that real Kanye is in the sunken place or he's doing it for publicity because he might be close to dropping a new album. Which, honestly, is a brilliant marketing idea for an album that's Ye's artistic expression on the current culture climate.
What can't be fully explained is his opinion that slavery was a choice on. He made this insane statement on TMZ Live. When he turned to the newsroom to ask if they thought he was thinking freely, TMZ writer Van Lathan ripped into Kanye.
TMZ uploaded an unedited version of what happened and wooooow was it way more heated than we thought.
THANK YOU VAN FOR SAYING WHAT NEEDED TO BE SAID.
Kanye defended his thoughts later:
to make myself clear. Of course I know that slaves did not get shackled and put on a boat by free will— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) May 1, 2018
My point is for us to have stayed in that position even though the numbers were on our side means that we were mentally enslaved— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) May 1, 2018
They cut out our tongues so we couldn't communicate to each other. I will not allow my tongue to be cut— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) May 1, 2018
