sound of music

The hills are alive, y'all. The FSCJ Artist Series brought MY FAVORITE MUSICAL EVER to the Times-Union Center. This cast legit made me tear up. So talented. You can catch a night showing or matinee through Sunday. Click here for tickets.

FYI, The Sound of Music and the FSCJ Artist Series will help with hurricane relief by making a $5 donation to Community Foundation's First Coast Relief Fund on all single event tickets.

Jax Bar-B-Que Fest

Barbecue Ribs

It's a whole weekend of saucy meats at the Landing. Sample all kinds of award-winning barbecue with live music and drinks. Come out to the fest Saturday at 2 p.m. to see me WIN the pie eating contest.

The event is free but they encourage buying VIP tickets to get the most out of it.

Jacksonville PorchFest

If there's only one thing on this list you can make time for, pick PorchFest. I'm a little biased because this is my 'hood. But even non Springfielders learn to love the historic neighborhood because of this free event.

PorchFest takes over the porches and parks of Springfield for a giant, family-friendly, walkable music festival. There are more than 30 bands covering different genres. Make sure you catch local artists the Chris Thomas Band, Mama Blue and Folk is People.

Klutho Park is hub of the party. You'll find your favorite food trucks like Bold City Pops and Eddis and Sons plus vendors if you're looking for some holiday gift ideas.

I better see you there! Springfield is somethin' special. Get more info on parking and other FAQs here.
