Six New Restaurants Opening in San Marco

Jacksonville's food scene is growing, y'all. And with it, my waistline.

But you can't be mad when so many creative and tasty spots are popping up all over town! Here are the six new restaurants coming to San Marco in 2017:

1. Town Hall

Culinary badass Chef Tom Gray just opened a 50-seat restaurant that features California cuisine with a modern west coast vibe. And just like he does at Moxie, the menu uses seasonal ingredients from local farms.

2. Amaretti Desserts

Another recently-opened addition to San Marco is Amaratti Desserts. Originally opened in Mandarin, Amaretti is a "made from scratch bakery" that specializes in desserts and breakfast pastries. They serve something called Kentucky Derby Pie. I don't know what it is but I volunteer as tribute.

3. Good Dough

There is no such thing as too many sweets shops. Good Dough creates IG-worthy artisan doughnuts that are all about the dough. They want to focus on dougnuts with a light and springy yeast dough, a denser cake dough and an old fashioned dough, similar to the cake but lets the glaze ooze into the cracks.

BONUS: they're having a soft opening this weekend! Good Dough will have a limited doughnut and drink menu from "9am-sold out" Saturday April 29.

4. The Hyppo

The hexagonal building in the courtyard of San Marco Station will soon be home to the TENTH Hyppo location. This made-from-scratch popsicle business started in St. Augustine. Now you've got more options if you're driving around Jax craving a Champagne Mango or Bananas and Grace pop.

5. The Laundry Station

No, this isn't a laundromat as a sneaky reminder to wash your damn sheets. The Laundry Station will eventually be a French-inspired coffee shop. Because you can also never have too many coffee shops.

6. Rue Saint-Marc

Every time the Medure brothers open a restaurant, a fairy gets her wings. Matthew and David Medure of M Hospitality Group run M Shack, Matthew's, Medure and now they're opening Rue Saint-Marc in San Marco Square. It's meant to be a casual, neighborhood spot. The menu will feature Southern American cuisine with a French flair. This Latina is very curious.
