Video of a massive brawl inside the Orange Park Mall went viral. Out of the 30 or so people involved, most of them were teenage girls, but I'll get back to that in a second.
Five people were arrested, including one adult. Authorities said the charges range from resisting arrest to battery on law enforcement and trespassing after warning.
News4Jax's crime and safety analyst said this type of fight is a trend happening across the country and it's normally pre-planned on (and we know probably stems from) social media.
Now, let's talk about how the majority of people involved in this stupid moment are teenage girls looking like that scene in Mean Girls where Cady and everyone else act like animals over a guy.
It looks crazy and ridiculous BECAUSE IT IS. Being a teenage girl sucks, I remember it with pure embarrassment and regret and I empathize with anyone in that point in their life.
But when people's safety is at risk because immature girls wanna have a brawl at the mall, GROW THE HELL UP. My little niece and nephews could have been there shopping for soccer cleats or swimsuits. To think one of them could have been hurt just because they were close to this mess makes me furious.
Who knows why this fight happened. The catty culture of teenage girls has been an ongoing problem. But it needs to change. I bet nothing good came out of this brawl. The sooner those girls realize it, the smarter they'll be and hopefully the closer they'll be to handling conflicts like an intelligent woman.
