JHS Seeking Storm Troopers to Foster Pets During Idalia

The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) is seeking families who can temporarily care for dogs and cats while Idalia passes. Families are to serve as “Storm Troopers” and host a dog or cat for a sleepover until at least Friday, September 1. This is a great opportunity for pets to ride out the storm with a family inside a cozy home instead of at the shelter.

Those interested are asked to stop by JHS, 8464 Beach Blvd., anytime during open hours of 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 28, or Tuesday, August 29, to pick up a pet. Depending on the path of Idalia, JHS may be open on Wednesday, August 30. Check the JHS website and JHS social media channels (@jaxhumane) for additional information.

JHS staff members and volunteers will assist you in selecting an animal to best fit into your home. “Storm Trooper” families are encouraged to spoil their sleepover guests and share pictures on social media using #JHSStormTrooper. Of course, if you fall in love during the storm, you are welcome to adopt!

For any questions about “Storm Troopers,” please message JHS on Facebook, call JHS at 904-725-8766 (choose the Adoptions option), or email adoptions@jaxhumane.org. More information is available via their website, jaxhumane.org/stormtroopers.
