Trump Tops Harris By 7 In New Poll Of Florida Voters

Former President Trump leads likely Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris in Florida 49-42 percent according to a new University of North Florida survey. UNF political scientist Dr. Michael Binder says Trump is clearly the favorite but Harris could make it interesting.

"Being down seven doesn't bode well for winning Florida in November," Binder said, "but it's certainly competitive."

More competitive is Florida's U.S. Senate race which has Republican incumbent Rick Scott up 4 points over Democrat Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, a former congresswoman. Binder says Scott should be doing better.

"We have him up 4 which is fine, but in a state that has +6 Republican registration and we have Trump up 7, he's not doing as well as Trump."

When it comes to two hot-button amendments that will be on the November ballot, 69-percent favor Amendment 4 that would put the right to abortion in the Florida Constitution and 64-percent back Amendment 3 that would legalize recreational marijuana use in the Sunshine State. 60 percent is needed to pass.
