Beauty Influencer, transgender model Nikita Dragun was arrested in Miami-Dade County - facing charges of misdemeanor disorderly conduct, violation of a municipal ordinance, and felony battery of a law enforcement officer. Dragun allegedly was causing a disturbance at a Miami hotel, and did not respond well to hotel security, throwing water at them, and then throwing an open bottle at a police officer. She has since been released after paying her bond, and will appear in court on December 7th.
However, when she was taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and booked - she was misgendered and placed in a men's unit.
A representative for Dragun told TIME:
The situation with Nikita, who is legally female, being placed in a men’s unit of a Florida jail is extremely disturbing and dangerous. This decision made by the Miami-Dade County Corrections Department directly violates their protocol, which mandates that transgender inmates are classified and housed based on safety needs and gender identity.
Kat Tenbarge, NBC News Tech and Culture Reporter, uploaded screenshots of the affidavit to Twitter, which also misgenders Dragun.

While I understand why Nikita Dragun was reprimanded for her actions, the situation became much worse than it had to be. I just don't how how they got it so wrong. With her social status, I'm sure more will come out from this. For now I am thankful that she is safe!
