Judge Finds For Florida in Cruise Lawsuit

TAMPA -- Florida wins the first round of its battle over cruising, as a federal judge issues an injunction against the CDC.

Judge Steven Merryday's ruling in Tampa federal court orders the Centers for Disease Control not to enforce its rules in Florida ports. But he stayed the order, meaning CDC rules will remain in force until July 18.

Merryday ordered the CDC to come up with new, narrower rules based on its best scientific evidence by July 2nd, giving Florida seven days to respond.

State Attorney General Ashley Moody calls the ruling a "victory for hardworking Floridians" against federal overreach.
