Demi Lovato is mourning the loss of her grandfather, Perry.
On Wednesday (July 1), Lovato, 27, took to Instagram to honor her late grandfather with a slideshow of photos from different eras in his life. "Woke up to the news that my Grandpa Perry passed away early this morning," she captioned the post, which featured shots of him in his younger years, reading the bible and giving Lovato a smooth on the cheek. "Heâs been sick for a couple years now so although Iâm relieved he is out of pain, it still hurts to think our family wonât get to say goodbye with a proper funeral for a while. But thatâs the reality during this pandemic."
Elsewhere, Lovato touched on his affiliation to faith, admitting that her grandfather "loved God fiercely." "[He] was one of the best preacherâs Iâve ever had the honor in witnessing spread the word of God," she continued. "I love you Grandpa. Iâm sorry we didnât take more pictures together but I have so many memories to make me smile until we meet again someday. Rest easy. Love you."
Meanwhile, Lovato's mother, Dianne De La Garza, also shared a tribute to her father, writing, "Sure am gonna miss you, Chief. Iâm broken-hearted but happy that youâre no longer suffering here on earth. You were the best Daddy in the whole world. Iâll love you forever."
