'The Office' Is Leaving Netflix And Twitter Is Having A Meltdown Over It

One of America's favorite TV shows is The Office. It was a hit when it was on NBC and continues to be beloved on Netflix. In fact, it is the most-watched show not just on Netflix, but on all streaming providers. However, NBC wants their cash cow back and when the show's contract with Netflix ends in 2021, it will only be available on NBC's new streaming service. In a statement, NBC Universal said, "The Office has become a staple of pop-culture and is a rare gem whose relevance continues to grow at a time when fans have more entertainment choices than ever before. We can't wait to welcome the gang from Dunder Mifflin to NBCUniversal’s new streaming service."

In response, Netflix tweeted, "We're sad that NBC has decided to take The Office back for its own streaming platform — but members can binge watch the show to their hearts' content ad-free on Netflix until January 2021."

Not surprisingly, fans are distraught over the news and turned to Twitter to express their feelings, most using Office memes to get their points across:

While it may not be a consolation, Parks and Recreation is staying on Netflix... for now.
