Celebrities are taking to social media to express their grief following the mass shooting at a country bar in Thousand Oaks, California early Thursday (November 8) morning.

The shooting, which took the lives of 12 people including Ventura County Sgt. Ron Helus, a 29-year veteran of the department, occurred during the bar's weekly "college night." According to reports, a gunman entered the dance bar wearing all black, a hood, and a mask. He is said to have first fired at the bar's security guard and cashier before turning to the dance floor, where he fired shots at random.

"It’s a horrific scene in there," Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean said at a news conference outside the Borderline Bar & Grill. "There’s blood everywhere."

The massacre marks the second mass shooting in the United States in less than two weeks. 11 people were killed at a synagogue in Pittsburgh late last month.
