How Daft Punk Re-Defined Top Forty Music

Daft Punk is the name for a duo of musical artists best known for their work in electronic dance music. Even if you aren't familiar with their name, Daft Punk, you've almost certainly heard their work.

Their song Get Lucky with Pharrell Williams was ranked among the best songs of 2013 by multiple publications and spent 13 weeks as #1 on the charts in the United States. If you were alive in the 90's and early 2000's, you've probably heard their song One More Time a few hundred times. Even Kanye West sampled their hit Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger in his single Stronger.

But how did Daft Punk take a music scene with no taste for their music style in the 90's and no electronic music market to speak of, and make people pay attention?
