The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association's biggest community event, uniting local families, businesses, and supporters around a shared mission: saving lives. Through fundraising and education programs, the Heart Walk helps expand access to CPR training, supports groundbreaking research, and promotes healthier communities.
But it's about more than just taking a walk. Here on the First Coast, the American Heart Association is working to create a community of lifesavers by teaching people how to recognize a cardiac emergency and perform CPR when every second counts.
The First Coast Heart Walk happens Saturday, October 3, at Ford on Bay. The event opens at 7:30 a.m., and the walk begins at 8:45 a.m. Registration is free at heart.org
The need is real. More than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside hospitals every year, and 9 out of 10 victims do not survive. Learning CPR is one simple action that can make a life-saving difference for a friend, family member, neighbor, or even a stranger.
