Clover, a dating app that's half way between Tinder and Match.com, analyzed data from 1.5M users across the US to see where people were going on first dates.
With the popularity and timelessness of the "coffee date," it's no surprise that Starbucks took first place, especially in data from an app primarily used by younger generations.
What we DIDN'T see coming, though, were the venues that took #2 and #3!
A few bonus takeaways that the people at Clover learned from their dating data:
- Starbucks was the number one place people chose to meet on a first date
- It’s clear men wanted the first meeting to be over dinner but at a casual restaurant
- Meanwhile, women who preferred being able to screen dates quickly over coffee
- People wanted to meet in relaxed environments and it seems they tended to avoid fine dining, bars and nightclubs for their first date
