Filmmaker Kevin Kerslake is putting together a documentary about the late DJ AM.  On Thursday he premiered the project's first trailer at the EDM Biz conference in Las Vegas.

According to "Billboard," the preview for the doc - titled "As I AM: The Life and Times of DJ AM" - featured a mix of performance clips, behind-the-scenes interviews, and commentary from friends of the musician, who was born Adam Goldstein.

Friend and fellow DJ, Steve Aoki, not only appears in the film, but also spoke about Goldstein during the panel discussion.  He said Adam was a "really solid compassionate human being," as well as his "guru in life and DJing."

Kerslake says "As I AM" is on track to hit theaters later this year.  He also revealed that a portion of the proceeds from the film will go to the DJ AM Memorial Fund to be channeled to MusicCares' addiction and recovery services.

DJ AM died in 2009 of a drug overdose, and was also very open about his struggles with addiction throughout his life.
